Area and Population
The municipality of South Mitrovica is located in northern Kosovo. It covers an area of approximately 297 km² and includes South Mitrovica town and 46 villages.
According to the Kosovo Population and Housing Census 2020, the total population is 69.331.
Governing Structures and Political Overview
The total number of voters in South Mitrovica municipality registered for the last municipal elections held in October 2021 was 78,546 including out of Kosovo voters.
The voter turnout was 40,3 percent/31,686 voters (source: Central Election Commission).
