Prishtina, 16 March – The Director of the Kosovo Local Government Institute, Besnik Tahiri, received a delegation of institutes and academics from Cyprus who are on an official visit to Prishtina, and discussed opportunities for cooperation with them.

As part of the KSTalksEU Project, a Cypriot delegation visited the offices of the Kosovo Local Government Institute. First, KLGI Director Besnik Tahiri informed the guests about the activities the Institute is carrying out in support of and to advance local governance in Kosovo.

The Cypriot delegation took an interest in the specific programmes that KLGI offers for building the capacities of municipal officials in our country, such as the “Local Governance Academy” training programme, seeing this as an opportunity to exchange good practice between the respective countries. Above all, it was said that it is important to build bridges of communication between Kosovo’s institutions and those of the European Union, with an emphasis on the countries that have not recognised Kosovo.

The visit was organised by the KSTalksEU programme, which aims to increase interaction in public, cultural and parliamentary diplomacy between Kosovo’s institutions, activists and civil society and the EU states that have not recognised Kosovo.
