Media release:
“Is clientelism endangering the building of good governance in municipalities?!”

The Kosovo Local Government Institute, in partnership with the Norwegian Embassy and the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung, will tomorrow (Thursday), 6 February 2014, starting at 11:00, in the “Artana” conference hall of the Swiss Diamond Hotel (Mother Teresa Square), hold the international conference entitled: “Is clientelism endangering the building of good governance in municipalities?!”.

On this occasion, a study/research led by David Jackson, a doctoral candidate at the University of Berlin, will be published. Over the course of a year, this study analysed local governance from a different dimension, that of the influence of clientelism, providing a broader governance picture of the role of formal and informal institutions in shaping political behaviour at the local level.

In addition to Mr David Jackson, the speakers at the conference will be the Norwegian Ambassador Mr Jan Braathu, the Deputy Minister of Local Government Mr Basri Musmurati, the Director of the Kosovo Local Government Institute Mr Besnik Tahiri and Mr Arian Galdini, lecturer at Luarasi University – Tirana.

The conference will be attended by mayors, representatives of international organisations and other local governance actors.
