A cooperation agreement between the KLGI Institute and the Democracy Starts Here network of NGOs was signed at the KLGI Institute’s premises. The signatories of the memorandum, Mr Besnik Muçaj of the KLGI Institute and Mr Shemsi Jashari of DFK, pledged to cooperate in strengthening local democracy.

This cooperation continues the KLGI Institute’s engagement in supporting organisations and initiatives at local level. In its work strategy, the KLGI Institute aims to strengthen local government through a democratic environment, as a means and an opportunity to increase dialogue and cooperation between civil society and municipalities. The Democracy Starts Here Network, for its part, aims to strengthen its role in supporting municipal institutions, articulating and addressing public needs, and in monitoring as a means of increasing transparency and accountability.

The KLGI Institute will support DFK professionally and operationally in building a platform for discussion with NGOs and institutions in order to arrive at a common agenda for interaction. The KLGI Institute remains open and committed to supporting civil society, young professionals and local actors in general in joint efforts towards sustainable and functional local government.
