Participants were European integration officers from municipalities and representatives of the Ministry of Local Government Administration (MLGA).
Opening the workshop, the Executive Director of the KLGI Institute, Valmir Gashi, stressed that the analysis serves institutions, public actors, civil society and the media as a reference point for the challenges of local governance.
For the KLGI Institute, meanwhile, it serves as an instrument for adapting strategies and areas of intervention in support of the common agenda towards European reforms.
The Programme Director of the KLGI Institute, Besnik Muçaj, presented the analysis “Local Governance in the Progress Report”. The KLGI Institute has analysed the European Commission’s Country Report and produced an analysis focusing on issues related to local government.
The Director of the Department for European Integration and Policy Coordination at the MLGA, Shkëlqim Jakupi, gave a presentation on the European Commission’s Kosovo 2021 Report – the challenges of local governance.
During the workshop, the potential of municipalities to fulfil the obligations arising from the European Commission’s Country Report was also analysed and discussed. In the 2020-2021 reporting period, local governance was analysed and assessed in specific areas of municipal competences and inter-institutional sectoral issues.
KLGI is dedicated to analyses and studies that contribute to effective local governance practices in Kosovo. Through its educational programmes, it also works on building the capacities of the country’s municipalities.
