Within the framework of the project “An effort towards sustainable and functional governance”, the KLGI Institute is delivering training in the Republic of Macedonia to build the capacities of municipal officials in strategic planning. In the context of strategic planning at the municipal level, in the first training session the lecturer, Mr Fatmir Bytyqi, who is also an EU Funds Expert, placed particular emphasis on the integrated organisational model, project cycle management and project identification.

Mr Bytyqi highlighted the key elements of the proper functioning of an institution, such as understanding its mission, its general environment (economic, political, technical and socio-economic factors) and the structural and organisational side of the institution. In this respect, regarding project management, Bytyqi explained that institutions should set their objectives in such a way that they are fully in line with donors’ priorities. Within this session, the phases of projects and their importance were elaborated, from programming, identification, formulation and financing to implementation and evaluation (assessment).

The training session also included group work, in which participants have the opportunity, through practical work as well, to learn the concepts, tools and practices for writing winning projects and managing them efficiently, with emphasis on access to EU funds.

“This grant is funded by the Democratic Society Promotion (DSP) project – funded by the Swiss Cooperation Office in Kosovo (SCO-K) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark (DANIDA) and managed by the Kosovar Civil Society Foundation (KCSF)”.
