Continuing its support for central and local institutions, the Kosovo Local Government Institute (KLGI) organised a workshop with stakeholders to discuss institutional schemes for supporting businesses.

The purpose of the workshop is to consult and discuss with local and international strategic partners so that government programmes, with particular emphasis on those of the Ministry of Regional Development (MRD), serve balanced socio-economic development.

During the workshop it was stressed that programmes for balanced regional development need to be implemented every year, with a direct impact on the development of businesses and on expanding their production or service capacities.

Importantly, the essential concept of regional development becomes even more meaningful at many stages, including at a time challenged by the Covid-19 pandemic. Moreover, cooperation on joint municipal projects and their linkage with other mechanisms creates interaction and a compact structure, so that support for the essential needs of businesses is more serious and more structured.

In its role, the KLGI Institute’s mission is to create new synergy in support of cooperation and the advancement of policies, while also contributing professional views in the areas that institutions consider necessary and relevant.

This discussion was part of the professional support the KLGI Institute is providing to institutions in capacity building and the drafting of policies and legislation in the field of local governance.

This activity was carried out within the project ‘Support for Stronger and Sustainable Municipalities (SSSM)’, funded by the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Kosovo.
