The KLGI Institute, within the framework of its platform and network for young professionals, organised the second meeting in a series of discussions on ‘Transformational Leadership’. This meeting focused in particular on models and practices of transformational leadership at local level.
Ertan Munuglu, Head of the DEMOS Project, and Bekim Salihu, Senior Researcher at the GAP Institute, gave presentations on the concepts, models and practices of transformational leadership at local level.
The discussion highlighted that a gradual increase in the involvement of young professionals in local governance would have a positive effect on strengthening policies and advancing processes at grassroots level. As this change unfolds, a new generation of professionals should feel they have a stake in strengthening the European foundations of governance, with an emphasis on the local level.
A transformational approach requires a number of individual and team parameters, based on practical and proactive tasks; staff motivation; determination in carrying out tasks; mobilisation of actors; professionalism; support for the implementation of tasks; and, importantly, innovation.
This activity was carried out within the project ‘Support for Stronger and Sustainable Municipalities (SSSM)’, funded by the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Kosovo.
