The Kosovo Local Government Institute (KLGI), within the framework of the project ‘Dialogue for European Municipalities’ (DEM), organised a study visit to the Republic of Albania. A delegation of officials from Kosovo’s municipalities, led by the Executive Director of the KLGI Institute, Mr Valmir Gashi, visited the Municipality of Tirana.

The delegation was received by the Deputy Mayor of Tirana, Anuela Ristani, the General Director of Strategic Projects and Foreign Investment, Genci Kojdheli, and the Executive Director of the Union of Albanian Municipalities in the Region (UBShR), Andriola Kambo.

The purpose of the visit was to learn about and exchange good regional experiences. Specifically, the aim was to learn about the results of the Municipality of Tirana in accessing IPA funds, as well as the work of the municipal unit for European integration and the writing and implementation of projects in the Municipality of Tirana.

The visit included officials from six (6) Kosovo municipalities (Ferizaj, Peja, Gjilan, Lipjan, Klina and Vushtrri), who had the opportunity to see first-hand the experience of the Municipality of Tirana and its successes in taking part in IPA programmes.

The Kosovo Local Government Institute (KLGI) is a local institute (think tank) dedicated to analyses and studies that contribute to effective local governance practices in Kosovo. Through its educational programmes, KLGI also works on building the capacities of the country’s municipalities.

The activity was carried out within the framework of the programme ‘Dialogue for European Municipalities’ (DEM), supported by the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Kosovo.
