The Kosovo Local Government Institute (KLGI) organised a three-day training (3-5 March) in the Republic of Albania on the topic “Good practices from the region for participation in EU funds”. Participants were officials from six municipalities (Ferizaj, Gjilan, Peja, Lipjan, Klina and Vushtrri).
The aim of the training was to strengthen the capacities of municipal officials in project cycle management, focusing on problem identification and the drafting of an effective project proposal, as well as project implementation, reporting and evaluation.
The KLGI Institute has designed an advanced training programme for municipal policymakers and officials to consolidate and build capacities in the field of municipal strategic and development policies. Through this programme, the aim is to build the capacities of municipalities in: designing municipal public policy programmes; municipal documents and strategies; designing development projects; linking with national programmes and development partners; integrated public policy systems and the process calendar; advancing/exchanging practices, encouraging innovation and following trends.
As part of this training, a study visit to the Municipality of Tirana was also organised to learn about good regional experiences, specifically the results of the Municipality of Tirana in accessing IPA funds and the work of the municipal unit for European integration.
The Kosovo Local Government Institute (KLGI) is a local institute (think tank) dedicated to analyses and studies that contribute to effective local governance practices in Kosovo. Through its educational programmes, KLGI also works on building the capacities of the country’s municipalities.
The activity was carried out within the framework of the programme ‘Dialogue for European Municipalities’ (DEM), supported by the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Kosovo.
