KLGI supports the MRD in drafting regional development policies

The Executive Director of the Kosovo Local Government Institute, Valmir Gashi, met the Minister of Regional Development, Fikrim Damka, and the Deputy Minister, Agon Dobruna, to discuss support in drafting regional development policies.

The Minister of Regional Development, Fikrim Damka, thanked the KLGI Institute for the support and assistance it has given the ministry in drafting regional development documents.

The Executive Director of the KLGI Institute, Valmir Gashi, stressed that regional development aims to provide a clear framework for achieving sustainable improvement for local communities, stimulating economic activity and promoting a more attractive regional environment.

Above all, regional development policies should focus on adopting measures and instruments to accelerate the development of underdeveloped regions, in order to achieve sustainable economic development.

The KLGI Institute will support the Ministry of Regional Development in drafting legislation through the programme “Dialogue for European Municipalities – DEM”, funded by the Royal Norwegian Embassy.
