The workshop organised by the KLGI Institute discussed the challenges, problems and setbacks in the field of regional development that are to be addressed in the document, with the aim of approximating the EU’s regional development policies.

Speakers at the workshop were the Deputy Minister of Regional Development, Agon Dobruna, the Executive Director of the KLGI Institute, Valmir Gashi, and the Deputy Director of the Department for Planning and Regional Socio-Economic Analysis at the MRD, Vjendita Avdiu.

It was stressed that sectoral development policies and activities at regional level need to be linked and coordinated, stimulating inter-regional, cross-border and international cooperation. Above all, appropriate mechanisms are needed for access to EU development funds, in order to achieve balanced and sustainable development.

The KLGI Institute serves as a platform for more structured communication in capacity building and the drafting of policies and legislation.
This activity was carried out within the project ‘Dialogue for European Municipalities (DEM)’, funded by the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Kosovo.
