As part of the programme “An effort towards sustainable and functional local governance”, the Kosovo Local Government Institute is holding two working sessions on the topic “Strengthening the role of civil society and media at local level” at the KLGI Institute’s premises.
The training sessions focus on the media and civil society, since media reporting and the activation of civil society are seen as an essential precondition for good governance. Strengthening local media and mutual communication with municipalities should therefore be seen as one of the main preconditions for good governance.
The two-day training covers the Prishtina, Gjilan and Mitrovica regions, and as such addresses topics that essentially highlight the need for intervention and for improving the situation of local governance on the ground.
The training also aims to present the work and results of local government, as well as the power of the internet, YouTube channels, portals and social networks, which can often be seen as opportunities left unused by municipalities and information offices.
This also concerns the fact that citizens, the media and civil society must play their part by holding local actors accountable for fulfilling their promises and the vision they have set out.
