The Kosovo Local Government Institute (KLGI), within the project “Civil Society as a Promoter of Public Contribution” – the “Social Engagement Programme” component – held the second module and a study visit to Albania. At the meeting with IDM Albania/SMART Balkans, representatives of local civil society organisations and social activists, coordinators of thematic groups from eight municipalities, were welcomed by Gjergji Vurmo, representative of IDM Albania/SMART Balkans.

The aim of the visit/meeting was to become closely acquainted with the programmes being implemented in the field of policy co-creation and public engagement of non-profit organisations (NPOs) in Albania and the region, supported by the SMART Balkans project. The meeting had three focuses: learning about the areas and programmes of SMART Balkans; the role of local CSOs and social activists in serving as intermediaries between the initiatives of local communities and municipalities; and the exchange of practices, encouraging regional initiatives and promoting European integration processes.

This activity is implemented with the support of the regional project “SMART Balkans – Civil Society for Shared Values in the Western Balkans”, implemented by Centar za Promociju Civilnog Društva (CPCD) in partnership with the Institute for Democracy and Mediation (IDM) and the Center for Research and Policy Making (CRPM), and financially supported by the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (NMFA).
