In a series of meetings in Kosovo’s municipalities, the Norwegian Ambassador, Per Strand Sjaastad, and the Executive Director of the KLGI Institute, Besnik Tahiri, concluded their visit with the mayor of the Municipality of Mamusha.

The integration of the Turkish community in Kosovo has meant that today they also have a municipality with a majority of this nationality. It was therefore of interest to Ambassador Sjaastad to see at first hand this community’s relations with the institutions of Kosovo and with Turkey.

The meeting noted that the Municipality of Mamusha has a population that is around 95 per cent Turkish, of whom around 75 per cent are concentrated in agriculture.

“Norway has a strong presence in the Western Balkans region and support for Kosovo and its communities is one of our priorities. Our goal remains to support Kosovo towards a functional and multi-ethnic society,” Ambassador Sjaastad added, enquiring about the integration of the Turkish community.

Bütüç expressed his gratitude for Norway’s continued support for Kosovo.

The visits were coordinated by the KLGI Institute, under the leadership of Mr Besnik Tahiri, Executive Director of the KLGI Institute, with the aim of giving Ambassador Sjaastad first-hand knowledge of the challenges, progress and prospects of municipalities.
