The Executive Director of the Kosovo Local Government Institute (KLGI), Besnik Tahiri, who is on a working visit to London, met the Secretary-General of the Commonwealth Local Government Forum of 53 states, Dr Carl Wright.
In a post on Facebook, Tahiri said that he and Wright discussed a range of topics related to local governance in Kosovo.
“Today I was honoured to meet Dr Carl Wright, Secretary-General of the Commonwealth Local Government Forum of 53 states.
During the meeting we discussed local governance developments in Kosovo and the process of reform and decentralisation. Dr Wright took an interest in the work of the KLGI Institute and the programmes we implement for the municipalities of Kosovo and the region,” Tahiri wrote.
Tahiri explained how KLGI provides municipalities with advanced training and professional advice on the path to follow towards further advancing local governance, in particular service delivery and raising municipal performance.
Furthermore, Tahiri stressed that during the meeting they agreed to deepen cooperation between the KLGI Institute and the Commonwealth Local Government Forum of 53 states and to exchange experience.
Secretary Wright expressed his readiness to offer support to the KLGI Institute and to the reform process that must be undertaken in local governance in Kosovo and the region.
During his stay in London, Tahiri will also meet the heads of various institutions related to the field of local governance.
