During his meetings with central and local institutions, Mr Tahiri also held a working meeting with KLGI’s partner “Al-Hayat Center”, where the challenges of local governance and the process of decentralisation in both countries were discussed.
At the meeting with Dr Amam Bani Amer, Executive Director of the Al-Hayat Center Institute in Amman, programmes in the Middle East were discussed. Dr Amer focused on the importance of the challenges on the road to local government reform. The implementation of decentralisation in Jordan was also discussed.
Mr Tahiri stressed that he was extremely pleased by the maturity and seriousness that KLGI’s institutional partner is achieving on the eve of the organisation’s 10th anniversary. Mr Tahiri also added that he was very pleased that the KLGI Institute’s recommendations are being put into practice.
The Al-Hayat Center for Civil Society Development was founded by a group of young Jordanian activists in 2006. The organisation has a deep commitment to development and to the values of regional global citizenship. The “Al-Hayat” Center has a strong impact at regional and international level, where it has made an important contribution to building the capacities of Central Statistics Offices (CSOs) in election monitoring, parliamentary monitoring, local governance, promoting political development, human rights advocacy and supporting democratic transition in several Arab countries.
