At the KLGI Institute’s offices, Director Tahiri received representatives of the Association for Regional Development (ARDA), led by Ms Mrika Macula, Chief Executive Officer. The meeting was part of the KLGI Institute’s engagement in supporting strategic municipal sectors through inter-municipal cooperation and interaction in regional development.
The meeting discussed ways in which the KLGI Institute and ARDA could contribute to the process of drafting the Law on Regional Development. This cooperation is intended to work in two dimensions: first, obtaining direct input from the actors involved in Kosovo’s five development regions, and second, offering options for the process of drafting the Law.
In this process, an analysis of regional practice in implementing such a law would help Kosovo align with trends towards sustainable development and addressing common challenges through structural funds. Such a process would help accelerate the integration process by strengthening European foundations in municipalities.
This was an initial meeting, to be followed by concrete consultations with the MLGA on the forms of and need for support.
