The Kosovo Local Government Institute (KLGI) held its latest meeting on the topic ‘The role of young people in strengthening local policies: the youth congress model in Albania and Kosovo’. This took place within the platform and network for young professionals on ‘Transformational Leadership’.
The transformational leadership platform aims to promote achievements through examples and, at the same time, to encourage new initiatives.
Albania’s achievements in organising the National Youth Congress were presented by Klajdi Priska, policy officer at the congress, and Enis Durguti, coordinator of the National Youth Congress – Republic of Kosovo.
An initiative of the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung resulted in Tirana being named European Youth Capital for 2022; examples were therefore given of engagement in the interest of young people and of the promotion of Tirana and of the Congress in particular.
Transformational leadership is about changing mindsets and approaches in local governance. Above all, transformational leadership will push local actors towards interaction, greater synergies and the advancement of innovative practices.
It is essential that the local level advances the intended model and that, beyond institutional actors, synergy is also required from other social and public actors in order to fundamentally strengthen the European spirit of local governance.
Through this component, KLGI aims to broaden the involvement of young professionals in local governance, with the goal of strengthening policies and advancing processes.
This activity was carried out within the project ‘Support for Stronger and Sustainable Municipalities (SSSM)’, funded by the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Kosovo.
