The Programme Coordinator at the Kosovo Local Government Institute, Mr Sadri Rrmoku, gave a presentation at the Regional Conference on the topic: Civil Society and Local Governments – Cooperation for Local Democracy in the Western Balkans.

The conference, organised by ReLOaD2, was a good opportunity to exchange good practices and learn about the challenges facing cooperation between civil society and municipalities in the Western Balkans.

Mr Rrmoku emphasised that cooperation between municipalities and civil society is an important element in the democratisation of states.

This cooperation also raises the quality of local policies and, at the same time, makes civil society a stakeholder in policy-making processes.

The broadest possible participation of actors in the policy-making process helps to increase transparency, accountability and the rule of law and to create more open governance.
