The Kosovo Local Government Institute (KLGI), together with the Ministry of Regional Development (MRD), organised a consultation meeting to review the draft document “Indicators for Monitoring Balanced Regional Socio-Economic Development in Kosovo”. Participants in the meeting were representatives of line ministries, the Kosovo Agency of Statistics, the municipalities of the Republic of Kosovo, the Regional Development Agencies and civil society.

The meeting presented the purpose of defining these indicators, which are part of the document being drafted, intended to build a system for measuring balanced regional socio-economic development in Kosovo.

The document serves to build a system for measuring regional performance, which aims to reflect central-level investments at the local and regional levels, to promote balanced regional socio-economic development and to stimulate competition between regions. It therefore aims to determine how information will be obtained to reflect socio-economic developments in Kosovo's five development regions, through analytical documents to be produced every year.

In this context, it is very necessary to develop, manage and promote projects that ensure balanced regional socio-economic development throughout the territory of Kosovo — above all, encouraging networking and promoting forms of cooperation between the municipality and other development actors in the context of sustainable and balanced regional socio-economic development.

The KLGI Institute remains committed to preparing, in cooperation with line ministries and municipalities, documents that help advance balanced regional socio-economic development.

This activity was carried out within the project ‘Support for Stronger and More Sustainable Municipalities’, funded by the Royal Norwegian Embassy.
