The Kosovo Local Government Institute (KLGI), in cooperation with the Ministry of Regional Development (MRD), organised a further workshop on completing the Draft Strategy for Regional Development 2020-2030. This discussion took place within the framework of the consultation platform that the KLGI Institute is offering institutions during the drafting of policies/legislation in the field of local governance.
The meeting aimed to discuss and complete the strategic objectives to be set out in this strategic document, with a focus on the action plan, the indicator passport and the costing of the strategy.
The Strategy for Regional Development 2020-2030 sets out the long-term goals and priorities for regional development and makes room for the coordination of policies that contribute to the balanced development of the regions.
This document will serve as a guide for local and regional economic development and, at the same time, will enable initiatives to be taken to implement joint development projects. It also plays an important role in achieving the goals and priorities for regional development through sectoral policies and strategies that contribute to the balanced development of the regions.
Furthermore, regional development aims to provide a clear framework for achieving sustainable and meaningful improvement for local communities, by stimulating economic activity and promoting a more attractive regional economic environment.
The KLGI Institute will undertake to consult other stakeholders on the document to obtain additional comments before the draft is sent to the public consultation platform.
The KLGI Institute, through its programmes, will continue to support institutions in drafting policies and legislation affecting the field of local governance in the Republic of Kosovo.
This activity was carried out within the project ‘Support for Stronger and More Sustainable Municipalities (SSSM)’, funded by the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Kosovo.
