As part of the programme “An effort towards sustainable and functional local governance”, the Kosovo Local Government Institute held a workshop on the topic “Raising the quality of communication and PR between municipalities and other local actors”.

The workshop focused on information officers, the media and civil society, since the exchange of views, ideas and experience among them at local level can bring the right expertise and, at the same time, full understanding, engagement and support. Mr Kujtim Gashi, Head of the Agency for Information Society (AIS), also took part in the workshop.

The workshop served to help municipalities and local actors strengthen effective communication as an important mechanism for setting common local development agendas. It was therefore assessed that the input of municipalities and local actors in solving local problems will matter more if communication takes the right direction.

The workshop covered the Prishtina, Gjilan and Mitrovica regions, addressing topics that essentially highlight the need for intervention and for improving the situation of local governance on the ground.

The workshop also aimed to present the importance of internal communication, the formulation of strategies for effective communication, and methods of effective communication, by distributing to participants the guide on effective communication between municipalities and other local actors.

In addition to presentations and joint discussions, the second part of the workshop included group work, in which participants were divided into three groups and offered solutions to specific challenges/problems related to communication at local level.

“This grant is funded by the Democratic Society Promotion (DSP) project – funded by the Swiss Cooperation Office in Kosovo (SCO-K) and the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs (DANIDA) and managed by the Kosovar Civil Society Foundation (KCSF)”.
