Within the framework of the programme “An effort towards local and functional governance”, the KLGI Institute is holding a workshop on “Building the capacity of internal audit offices for monitoring, evaluation and advice”.
The workshop focuses on internal audit offices, with the aim of promoting their role, improving communication and familiarising participants with the international standards for the professional practice of internal auditing.
The workshop will serve to help internal audit offices improve their oversight, control and recommendation processes in order to raise auditing standards.
Municipalities, and mayors in particular, must engage strongly in establishing and operationalising audit committees and in empowering internal auditors as whistle-blowers and preventers of procedural and legal violations in financial matters.
Strategic plans and action plans should be subject to continuous consultation and analysis by audit committees and auditors. Internal control must, above all, improve, address and raise standards in the way finances are spent in relation to the processes taking place in municipalities.
The workshop covers all regions of Kosovo, addressing topics that essentially highlight the need for intervention and improvement of the situation in local governance on the ground.
“This grant is funded by the Democratic Society Promotion (DSP) project – funded by the Swiss Cooperation Office in Kosovo (SCO-K) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark (DANIDA) and managed by the Kosovar Civil Society Foundation (KCSF)”.
