The Kosovo Local Government Institute (KLGI) has begun modular training under the programme “Local Governance Academy (LGA)”. The first session covered the topics: Democratisation and Good Governance; Principles of Democracy at Local Level; and the Concept of Local Self-Government.
Participants were municipal officials from administration, public services, economic development, social welfare and the administration of the Municipal Assemblies of the municipalities of Gjilan, Viti, Ferizaj, Malisheva and Rahovec.
Through this programme, KLGI aims to advance local governance and in particular to build the capacities of municipalities to deliver quality services. The LGA is an advanced training programme focused on elaborating the modern concept of local governance through training modules delivered in the form of lectures, discussions, group work, information exchange and study visits.
Through the programme, participants can protect, promote and improve the local level by addressing challenges and finding solutions in governance processes.
KLGI is dedicated to analyses and studies that contribute to effective local governance practices in Kosovo. Through its educational programmes, it also works on building the capacities of the country’s municipalities.
The activity was carried out within the framework of the programme ‘Dialogue for European Municipalities’ (DEM), supported by the Norwegian Embassy in Prishtina.
