The Ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway to the Republic of Kosovo, Mr Jens Erik Grondahl, together with the Executive Director of the Kosovo Local Government Institute, Mr Valmir Gashi, visited the Municipality of Gjilan, where they were received by the mayor, Mr Alban Hyseni.
The purpose of the visit was to inform Ambassador Grondahl about the progress made and the challenges the municipality faces. Particular emphasis was placed on sustainable economic development, digitalisation and efficient functioning.
On this occasion Mr Hyseni, thanking Ambassador Grondahl for the Norwegian Embassy’s continuous support, stressed that their focus is on providing better and more efficient services to citizens and on promoting digitalisation. Digitalisation requires a concrete response and faster steps, covering all the services the local level provides.
Speaking about the development projects of the Municipality of Gjilan and the growth of its economic potential, Mayor Hyseni gave an informative presentation on the history of Gjilan and the largest industries and sectors that help attract foreign investment.
The visit concluded that the Royal Norwegian Embassy is playing a special role and showing serious commitment in supporting the local level, whether through direct support or through capacity-building programmes such as the KLGI Institute.
The activity was carried out within the framework of the programme ‘Dialogue for European Municipalities’ (DEM), supported by the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Kosovo.
