The KLGI Institute, continuing its support for the Ministry of Finance, organised the first meeting of the working group for drafting the Draft Law on Local Government Finance (LLGF), to discuss the agenda of the process of drafting the Law on Local Government Finance; the general outline of the draft law was also addressed.

This law aims to ensure a developed system of local finance so that municipalities can exercise their competences and carry out their activities efficiently and effectively. Above all, this law is the foundation for the sustainable funding of municipal services.

There was common agreement that this process requires a multidisciplinary approach, great commitment and inclusiveness so that the new Law brings greater efficiency and effectiveness. The focused discussions will continue in future meetings with a view to finalising this law and harmonising the action agenda for the subsequent phases.

The KLGI Institute will continue to support the Ministry of Finance in this process, including this workshop and the stakeholder consultation component.

This activity is being carried out within the project ‘Support for Stronger and More Sustainable Municipalities (SSSM)’, funded by the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Kosovo
