The Kosovo Local Government Institute (KLGI) held the first module of the “Social Engagement Programme (SEP)”, which is being implemented within the project “Civil Society as a Promoter of Public Contribution”. The participants in the training were the 24 coordinators of thematic groups from the eight selected municipalities.
The aim of the training was for civil society organisations, social activists and interest groups to build their capacities on the concepts of local governance and public engagement.
Within this module, the following topics were discussed and addressed: the principles of good governance and direct democracy; the legal basis, strategies and policies of local governance – with a focus on three (3) areas: gender equality, minorities and vulnerable groups. Divided into groups, the participants simulated processes by identifying specific issues for each focus group in relation to the policies, legislation, documents and strategies for the three areas.
The Social Engagement Programme (SEP) is an advanced training programme targeting civil society organisations, social activists and interest groups at the local level.
This activity is implemented with the support of the regional project “SMART Balkans – Civil Society for Shared Values in the Western Balkans”, implemented by Centar za Promociju Civilnog Društva (CPCD) in partnership with the Institute for Democracy and Mediation (IDM) and the Center for Research and Policy Making (CRPM), and financially supported by the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (NMFA).
