The Kosovo Local Government Institute (KLGI) continued with the second day of the workshop on the topic “Measuring Municipal Performance”.

The workshop placed particular emphasis on the Draft Law on the Municipal Performance Management System and the Performance Grant. Participants were members of municipal assemblies from the Prishtina region. Through the drafting of the Draft Law on the Municipal Performance Management System and the Performance Grant, the aim is to build a new standard for measuring how municipalities function.

This law aims to regulate the system for measuring municipal performance, which presents the results of municipalities through 119 indicators in 19 areas of competence for which they are responsible under the Law on Local Self-Government.

Measuring and managing municipal performance is essential in order to see how well municipalities function and fulfil their competences. The focus of this law is on ensuring good governance, financing and the delivery of efficient and effective services at local level. This prompts municipal decision-making bodies, organisations and citizens to assess the quality of the services provided to citizens.

This meeting was part of the KLGI Institute’s support to municipalities and central institutions in drafting new policies in the field of local governance.

The activity was carried out within the framework of the programme ‘Dialogue for European Municipalities’ (DEM), supported by the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Kosovo.
