The Kosovo Local Government Institute (KLGI), in support of the Ministry of Local Government Administration (MLGA), organised a workshop to present the Model Strategy for Local Economic Development and the Monitoring of the Local Economic Development Strategy 2019-2023. Participants were representatives of the MLGA and Directors and Officers for Local Economic Development.
The aim of the meeting was to present and discuss the first draft of the Model Strategy for Local Economic Development; the Guidelines for Drafting a Local Economic Development Strategy; the Monitoring of the Local Economic Development Strategy 2019-2023; and the Review of the Action Plan of the Local Economic Development Strategy 2021-2023.
The Model Strategy for Local Economic Development aims to provide municipalities with a document that facilitates the process of drafting local strategic documents and policies. At the same time, this document will serve as guidance for municipalities in achieving their municipal strategic objectives.
Municipalities should strive, through local economic development, to improve and raise citizens’ quality of life by creating new opportunities for economic and social well-being.
The meeting was part of the support to municipalities in drafting strategic documents that affect local economic development. The KLGI Institute is dedicated to analyses and studies that contribute to effective local governance practices in Kosovo. Through its educational programmes, it also works on building the capacities of the country’s municipalities.
The activity was carried out within the framework of the programme “Dialogue for European Municipalities” (DEM), supported by the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Kosovo.
