The Kosovo Local Government Institute (KLGI) held a virtual workshop on “Public Policies with a Focus on Public Consultations”. The workshop aimed to familiarise participants with the regulations on public consultation on municipal acts and to present the draft manual for the public consultation process at the local level.
The workshop discussed the public policy cycle, focusing on public consultations at the local level, with particular emphasis on the draft manual for public consultation at the local level.
Dialogue between citizens and their elected representatives, and citizens' involvement in governance, is essential for democracy, because it strengthens the legitimacy of institutions and the effectiveness of their actions.
The KLGI Institute remains committed to supporting local and central institutions in advancing local democracy, with particular emphasis on increasing transparency and accountability at the local level. The public consultation process is the main pillar of transparent governance, enabling citizens and interest groups to discuss, monitor and evaluate work at the local level.
Above all, the long-term goal is to help close the communication gap between citizens and local authorities by re-establishing contact with citizens' needs, values and priorities.
This activity was carried out with the support of the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung (FES).
