The KLGI Institute and the Ministry of Finance discuss reform in the financing and sustainable development of municipalities

At the offices of the KLGI Institute, the Executive Director, Mr Besnik Tahiri, received the Minister of Finance, Mr Avdullah Hoti. The meeting focused on cooperation between the Ministry of Finance and the KLGI Institute in support of the financing and sustainable development of municipalities.

Director Tahiri informed Minister Hoti about the KLGI Institute’s engagements in supporting municipalities through capacity building aimed at ensuring sustainability and functionality at the local level. At the same time, Mr Tahiri stressed that the KLGI Institute has continuously addressed the requests of municipalities and that it has a broad network from which its analyses draw directly on the local context.

During the meeting, Mr Tahiri and Mr Hoti agreed to cooperate in addressing challenges through broad consultation with stakeholders, as the best way to strengthen the development of municipalities. This would also lead to coherent changes, since partial changes cannot provide functionality and sustainability.

At the same time, Mr Tahiri stressed that these initiatives also require coordination and support from the programmes that support and fund municipalities.
