At the Institute’s premises, Mr Besnik Tahiri, Executive Director of the Institute, met Dr Bernhard Knoll-Tudor, Director of the School of Public Policy’s Global Policy Academy at Central European University, based in Budapest.

Dr Knoll-Tudor is on a visit to Kosovo to exchange experiences in the field of professional education between Central European University and governmental and non-governmental actors, including the Local Governance Academy led by the KLGI Institute. Dr Knoll-Tudor’s experience in Kosovo dates back to the first days of building democratic institutions. He served the OSCE Mission in Kosovo as a Policy Adviser in 2000–2002 and later as Temporary Media Commissioner at UNMIK. During his doctorate, he analysed Kosovo’s “subjecthood” in international law and the right to self-determination, which was published by “Cambridge University Press”.

Among other things, Tahiri and Knoll-Tudor discussed opportunities for deepening cooperation in order to strengthen the capacities of municipal officials. Tahiri spoke about the current situation of local governance and expressed interest in improving municipal reform in line with good international practices. In this context, Tahiri informed Knoll-Tudor about KLGI’s efforts to strengthen municipal capacities towards ensuring functionality and sustainability.

The two agreed to intensify the exchange of experiences in the field of advanced professional training.
