Municipal profile
Area and population
The municipality of Gjilan is located in southeastern Kosovo. It covers an area of approximately 385 km² and includes Gjilan town and 49 villages.
According to the Kosovo Population and Housing Census 2020, the total population is 77,145.
Governing structures and political overview
The total number of voters in Gjilan municipality registered for the last municipal elections held in October 2021 was 101,062 including out-of-Kosovo voters.
The voter turnout was 43.4 percent/43,832 voters (source: Central Election Commission).
